C. L. Jordan, D.B.E., President
After the passing of Rev. Robert Crummie in January 2020 and the service of Rev. Clifford Ice as Interim President in February 2021, Rev. Dr. C.L. Jordan assumed the presidency of Carver.
Dr. Jordan, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, is the son of Rev. Dr. F.L. and Dr. Carolyn S. Jordan. In November 2020, Jordan was elected by the Board of Trustees as Carver’s sixth president in its 78-year history. Prior to his selection, Jordan served on the Carver Board of Trustees for 13 years. In February 2021, President Jordan relocated his family back to Atlanta, GA from Louisville, KY.
Jordan has extensive experience in the ministry, the marketplace, and the mission field. In the ministry, Jordan pastored Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist of Cartersville, GA (1994-2003), Greater Good Hope Baptist of Louisville, KY (2003-2007), and Bible Community Fellowship Missionary Baptist of Louisville, KY (2007-2021) for a combined total of 27 years. He assisted the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia as a Lecturer, the Kentucky Baptist Convention as a Mission Board Member and Executive Board Committee Member, the Moderator of the Kennesaw Missionary Baptist Association, and the Mercy Ministry Catalytic Consultant for the Louisville Regional Baptist Association.
In the marketplace, Jordan served with the Georgia Department of Human Resources (1987-1989), as a Certified Peace Officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections (1989-1994), and the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles (1994-1998). After relocating to Louisville in 2003, he joined the Administrative Offices of the Courts of Kentucky (2007-2011) as a Substance Abuse Counselor, and as a Regional Supervisor for the Specialty Court Division (2011-2021). President Jordan was also a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army Reserves (1986-1994).
On the mission field, he has ministered abroad in Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and as visiting Instructor for the World Hope Bible Institute. Jordan is the President of the Gospel Love Missions Team in partnership with Navajo Christian Foundation in Dilkon, AZ.
His vision is to develop a Missions Department at Carver that will reach further into the Urban Community as well as into the nations of the world.
President Jordan has been married to his college sweetheart, Peggy Jordan, for 33 years. They have two daughters, A’Kia and A’Keisha, and one grandson, Xander.
